2/3 c sugar
2 Tbls water
1/2 c chocolate chips
1/2 c nuts (optional)
Place ingredients in heavy saucepan. Cook on high heat, stirring constantly until mixture foams. As it foams, it will thicken and turn tan. When is has acquired the color of a paper sack and starts to smoke, it is done. Pour immediately into a foil pan. Sprinkle chocolate chips over the top and let them melt. Using a spoon, smooth chocolate over toffee. Refrigerate. Can add nuts under the toffee, or sprinkle on top of chocolate before it cools. Break into pieces and savor!
