3/4 c butter, softened
1 tsp vanilla
1 egg
2 c flour
3/4 tsp salt
2 Tbls orange peel
1 tsp baking powder
1 c chocolate chips
1/4 c shortening
3 Tbls corn syrup
In a large bowl, cream sugar and butter until light and fluffy. Add vanilla and egg; blend well. Stir in flour, baking powder, salt, and orange peel. Roll dough into 1” balls and place 2” apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Flatten with bottom of glass dipped in sugar. Bake at 350 degrees 6-8 min. or until edges are lightly browned. Cool 1 min.and remove to cookie racks.
In a small saucepan over low heat, combine chocolate chips, shortening, and corn syrup, stirring constantly until smooth. Dip half of each cookie in glaze and cool on wax paper. Chill until set.
