Beef Stroganoff

1 lb ground beef, or stew meat, or left over Sunday roast!
1 tsp garlic, minced
1/2 c brown gravy mix, or 2 cubes of beef boullion, or some beef soup base (check product)
1 c water (approx)
1 can cream of mushroom soup
2 c sour cream (16 oz)
1 can cream of mushroom soup
sauteed mushrooms (can be optional)
1 lb noodles, cooked and drained (or we also use rice sometimes)


Cook ground beef with garlic and some salt and pepper.   If using stew meat, cook stew meat in some water & boullion and simmer for 30-40 min.-- or put in crock pot in morning and it makes it VERY tender for dinner time.  If using leftover roast, simmer as necessary for tenderness.  Sprinkle gravy mix over meat and stir.    Add water and cream of mushroom soup to the beef.    Stir in sour cream and stir until smooth.   Heat until warmed through.    Add some sautéed mushrooms.   Serve over noodles or rice.
